Pieter era hijo de un albañil y de una comadrona. Era el mayor de cinco hermanos.
Entre los años 1645 y 1647 se hizo alumno de Nicolaes Berchem.
Este artista figura dentro del grupo de los pintores del Siglo de Oro holandés. Perteneció al movimiento barroco. Y se dedicó a la pintura de género, interiores y ambientes urbanos.
Contrajo nupcias con Jannesen van der Borgh, en el año 1654. De esta unión marital nacieron 7 hijos.
A pesar de que Pieter de Hooch vendía muchas de sus obras. Al parecer, nunca tuvo una situación económica holgada.
Falleció en Ámsterdam, en el año 1699. Se desconoce la fecha exacta de su muerte.

Pieter was the son of a bricklayer and a midwife. He was the eldest of five siblings.
Between 1645 and 1647 he became a student of Nicolaes Berchem.
This artist is part of the group of painters of the Dutch Golden Age. He belonged to the Baroque movement. And he dedicated himself to genre painting, interiors and urban environments.
He married Jannesen van der Borgh in 1654. From this marital union 7 children were born.
Despite the fact that Pieter de Hooch sold many of his works. Apparently, he never had a comfortable financial situation.
He died in Amsterdam in 1699. The exact date of his death is unknown.
Here are three of his works so that you can choose the one you like best to write about. The first is titled The Linen Cupboard (1663), the second, ***The Council Chamber of the Amsterdam Town Hall (1650) and the third Drinkers by the Arch (1658).
