It's easier to see from above, as sports fans know, sitting in the stands and complaining about the players' poor performance on the field.
Indeed, it's true; just go up to the old men in the park gathered around the bench where they're playing chess.
Most of them, myself included, knew better where a chess knight should move and which pawn to sacrifice, even if it was down below.
It's different down below. You have responsibility, a special responsibility for yourself and for those who support you in a match, but often, someone, something, blocks your view, like the trees that obscure this old water tower.
But those at the top always have their own disadvantages; they're often buffeted by the cold wind, and it's less comfortable than being somewhere closer to the ground.
And yes, anyone who has ever soared high into the air must be prepared to land, and here the hope lies not in their imaginary, but in their real skills, which must be no less reliable than the landing gear of a plane that has taken off, which in any case will have to land on the runway.
