I didn't even know what the smallest insect I'm sharing pictures of with you today was. But when I looked it up on the internet, I found out that it was a Tussock moth.

Tussock moth

moth from the tribe Nygmiini, likely belonging to the genus Euproctis or Arna. These moths are often referred to as Tussock moths due to their hairy appearance.

They are known for their distinctively fluffy, often yellowish or whitish bodiesWhile they may appear cute, it is recommended to avoid touching them as the hairs can cause skin irritation.

These moths are known for their dense, velvety coating of fine hairs (setae) and their "furry" legs.

Key Identification Details

Scientific Classification:

It belongs to the family Erebidae (formerly Lymantriidae). Within this family, it is frequently identified as part of the Nygmiini tribe or the genus Euproctis.

Common Names:

While often just called "tussock moths," some visually similar species are nicknamed "yellow furry-legs" (such as Acraga infusa) or "yellow flannel moths".
