Warm greetings, friends of WOX. I'm back to share some close-ups of a truly beautiful beetle, remarkable for its colors, shapes, and sheen.
Google Lens had a hard time identifying this beetle species. Its scientific name is Pelidnota polita. The problem was that it couldn't detect the mottled pattern of spots on the elytra and instead associated species with a striped pattern.
Spot pattern: The dark, fine mottling is concentrated towards the margins of the elytra.
Well, after searching and refining the search, I think I've finally found it. It's Pelidnota polita, which is found mainly in the Caribbean and Amazon regions (Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, and parts of Brazil).
Side view, ventral zone.It belongs to the genus Pelidnota, and the family Scarabaeidae, subfamily Rutelinae. This group of beetles is commonly known as "May or June beetles" or "shiny beetles" because of their polished tones on their upper and ventral sides.

Editing: The photographs were taken in 2X macro mode with my A7S camera. I then edited them with Lightroom, specifically to enhance the colors and achieve the greatest possible definition and sharpness.
