Photography and Information: Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT/GT Junior
This type of post is dedicated to sharing information about the subjects I manage to photograph during my days.
Photography
In these photos, you can see an Alfa Romeo Giulia GT Junior, belonging to the famous Bertone "105/115" coupé family. Specifically, the front details (four headlights, central shield, body line, and wheels) suggest it is likely a GT 1300 Junior from the early 1970s.
Information
Production
The Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT/GT Junior family was produced from 1963 to 1977 by the Italian automobile manufacturer Alfa Romeo (founded in Milan in 1910).
Designer and Engineer
The body was designed by the young Giorgetto Giugiaro, who at the time worked for Carrozzeria Bertone.
It is considered one of the most elegant Italian coupés ever made. Let's remember that Giorgetto Giugiaro designed the Lotus Esprit S1, the DeLorean DMC-12 (the one featured in the film Back to the Future), and the Fiat Panda.
Commercial Success
The 105/115 series coupés were enormously successful, with over 220,000 units produced in various versions.
The GT Junior was one of the best-selling Alfa Romeo sports cars of the 1960s and 1970s. Now, the name has returned with the production of the new Alfa Romeo Junior Hybrid.
Historical Importance
This car helped establish Alfa Romeo as a benchmark for affordable sports sedans and coupés, offering high performance without sacrificing everyday usability. I would say that even today, it is one of the most sought-after classic Alfas among collectors. In Italy, this car is very popular.
Use in rallies and competitions
The GT and GTA versions were successfully used in rallies, touring cars, and hill climbs.
The most famous was the Giulia Sprint GTA, developed by Autodelta, which won numerous international titles in the European Touring Car Championship.
Engine and technical characteristics
The GT 1300 Junior was equipped with a 1,290 cc aluminum twin-cam engine, a very advanced solution for its time.
It featured rear-wheel drive, a 5-speed manual transmission (uncommon in the 1960s), and four-wheel disc brakes, features that, again at the time, gave it excellent dynamic performance.
Conclusions
Looking at a car like this is like taking a journey back in time, to an era when cars were designed with personality, elegance, and mechanicals capable of conveying authentic emotion. The Giulia GT Junior is not just a means of transportation, but a symbol of Italian ingenuity and style.

Fotografia e informazioni: Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT/GT Junior
