Final sunset (acrylic)

I've been painting this canvas for several days now. The process has been a wonderful learning experience; I've learned new things, and it's been incredibly rewarding. I keep returning to the embrace of art.

I've had to adapt to the material and draw in sections. Many times late at night, the lighting was terrible. Only on Sunday was I able to work for a while in sunlight; then the rain came to settle the dust and turn everything back to its grays and the sounds of rain on the zinc.

I paint, and then I see how difficult art is, a terrible loneliness that dwells within us: sun, exile, the end, the city crumbling to pieces. Someone alone contemplates the sunset. The bombs keep falling, but in that infinite space, the colors of the sunset are more important. Death will come slowly, without haste; we have many ways of receiving it. I hope this is one of the most deadly.

I used Shuttle Art acrylic paint on a 60 cm x 40 cm canvas. I used twelve different types and sizes of brushes. The colors I used were: sky blue, titanium white, orange, yellow, gray, and black.
