The task of the wise: Understand that I have not labored for myself alone but for all who seek wisdom. Ben Sira 24:34

The Bible teaches that the sensible men have something in common, and that is wisdom, and it is through this spiritual good that these kinds of people recognize each other. A sensible man is not concerned with happiness, riches, or power, but with being able to live according to the ethical laws of the universe, such as the Silver Rule: "Never do to anyone else anything that you would not want someone to do to you" Tobit 4:15. And this is so because the sensible man knows or intuits that spiritual goods are not goals in themselves but a consequence, a return of that eternal wisdom of God which has to be discovered like a hidden treasure.
And among sensible men, a particular group stands out: the wise of heart. And wise are those sensible men who have received from God the grace of wisdom in their hearts. The wise ones are, so to speak, those people who are at the top of the spiritual hierarchy above the rational or natural men.
And in the Bible, there are numerous examples of this group of people, such as King Solomon and the teacher of wisdom Ben Sira, both of whom wrote sapiential books to educate, instruct, and guide those who seek spiritual answers along the path of life. And in this consists the true task of the wise, because those who love with benevolence and kindness and know also teach.
It is for this reason that the wise Ben Sira expressed his intentions as the author of his book with these words: "I will again make learning shine forth like the dawn, so that its light may be seen far and wide" Ben Sira 24:32. The wise man, in his love for wisdom, compared education to a dawn and to light, that is, to the most beautiful thing, and to that which allows men to walk in life. And then the master Ben Sira concluded with something else, something that transcends wise people as individuals, and that is to leave a spiritual legacy for those who succeed them with these words: "Understand that I have not labored for myself alone but for all who seek wisdom" Ben Sira 24:34.
The wise man expressed his spiritual love and his thoughts with the most excellent words, because money comes and goes, empires rise and fall with their strength, but wisdom always remains and blesses the people who cultivate her, as Israel was blessed when it made the law and the covenant with God the most valuable thing.
