I don't pretend to understand what happens at those gatherings but i like that powerful forces seem to be at work and also the underlying traditions involved which as a world we shouldn't lose, i suspect that the majority of power comes from the individuals belief as i truly believe that if you trust implicitly and have complete faith that something will happen, then we manifest that truth for ourselves.
The individual can actually direction certain channels of healing using the forest medicine, through focusing and concentrating on your intention. If a tourist wants to try out of idle curiousity it is very possible nothing will happen, it's called "work", it is not a passive process. Ultimately the plant is intelligent and gives to each person what they need. It's interesting however that recurrent types of visions and sensations are reported by disparate individuals and communities which suggests that it is more than something just coming from the individual.
Interesting thank you, the recurrent visions and sensations would suggest the plant has a similar effect for all that are capable of embracing its effect, through as you say "work" and those that simply try it out as a tourist and gain nothing would also suggest a lack of atunement or belief in its effect its interesting also that the effects come through as you say concentrating on your intention which is kind of having belief in its effects also so i think some of what i said is correct albeit on a basic level and im sure there are other forces at work :)
It's very strong medicine and opens up mystical channels.
