RE: 3 Oil Pastel Paintings Painted on Pastelmat + Average Paper

in #artonsteemityesterday

I was looking at some cat painting but I was unsure of the medium used. It had great details with the whiskers. Do you think pastel color can achieve that?

Sort:

Yes, that is possible. Pastels were a replacement of oilpaint and it can be used in different ways. Especially in the old days it been used in the same way like oilpaint. Today many do it different but there's someone doing wildlife and his paintings are very realistic. He dies the fur and everything.

I never use pastel before and I had always assumed it's something better than crayon but never expect it to be a replacement for oilpaint

If I read it we'll, both are in a way. It can be used with water, mineral water, alcohol.
