Saturday A few cool statues and art pieces around the city

I know of recent I have been sharing a lot of the historic buildings around the city, with the early sunrise, I have had time to explore some of the city after there is more light as the sunrises, before heading home.
But will take a break from that today to share some sculptures and art around the city that I have captured recently.

That said, I guess this first one is both a statue and historic :)

This is on the Barnard Monument here in New Bedford. Let me tell you a little about it.

The Barnard Memorial (or Barnard Monument) is a historic 1914 granite and bronze statue located in a traffic circle inside Buttonwood Park in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

It was sculpted by George J. Zolnay, it honors both the city's whaling heritage and the immigrant mill workers who built its textile industry.

The monument was a gift to the city from George D. Barnard, a St. Louis businessman who was born in New Bedford. At its base are seafaring figures, while the top, which I show here, is of the pedestal, featuring a blacksmith standing over a gear, symbolizing the transition from the whaling era to the manufacturing boom
