بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
Assalamu-Alaikum-wa-Rahmatullahi- wa-Barakatuh!
The question of whether technology can save the planet has been addressed many times . The answer lies within the framework of the Quran, where the concept of Mizan (Balance) is a fundamental principle of Islamic Environmental Ethics. The Quran, Surah 55 Ayahs 7 – 8 declares that Allah did raise up the heavens and lay down a balance, and forbids us to exceed the limits of the balance He has set.
The earth is a balanced and finely tuned ecosystem created by Allah. Through the use of new climate technologies, such as solar panel grids, smart irrigation systems, and artificial intelligence-driven carbon tracking devices, we are able to make the necessary moves required to heal the Allah created balance (Mizan) of our ecosystem. The Quran is clear in teaching that technology by itself is not sufficient. We are still required to care for the earth through our actions as caregivers and stewards of the planet.
By using eco-innovation in our daily living purposefully and thoughtfully, we honor our respective roles as stewards of the earth (the ecological balance) and help to heal the world (the damage we have done) through our faith and the science behind the faith.
