Gurbir Grewal of the SEC stated that celebrities who promote crypto assets must disclose the nature, source, and amount of compensation they receive.

In this regard, the SEC accused Kim Kardashian of promoting EthereumMax's crypto token EMAX on her Instagram account without revealing the amount paid for it.

Kardashian then agreed to pay a $1.26 million fine to the SEC for the breach.
