First @ned And Now Steemit: The Powering Down Continues
A post written by @therealwolf made a strong request for @ned and Steemit Inc to put out an official notice about why they Steemit accounts are being powered down.

These transactions appeared along with the memo.
This is just another in the ongoing moves in the saga that is Steemit Inc. I cannot speak for everyone but it seems that Ned has lost the confidence of the community. In fact, it is to the point where the actions of himself and his company do not warrant the benefit of the doubt. As the article said, either they are hiding something or are completely incompetent.
Which is it?
The announcement in November that sent shockwaves through the Steem ecosystem showed us how centralized Steem still is. What is good about this is, at least in terms of Steem Power, the distribution is being altered.
Nevertheless, this bipolar behavior from Ned when the community is on edge does little to reassure people.
Am I worried? Not at all.
One of the major quests in 2019 is the Steemit is not Steem initiative. We need to drive this point home. Steemit is not Steem.
Yesterday, I came across a Witness report that stated the code for RocksDB appears to be going well. There is progress being made. So in spite of the antics, that seems like it is forging ahead. (I wish I remembered who put it out)
Little is being done on the SMT front although that is expected. The transfer over of the data structure was the priority. That much was announced.
Over the last couple months, we saw a lot of talented people step up. We know that @blocktrades has the ability to handle the coding of the blockchain if needed. They are experienced in this arena and might even do a better job than Steemit Inc.
We also have applications that are moving ahead with updates. The announcement by @magicdice yesterday was exciting.
Essentially, we are seeing the basis for a Steem economy forming. It is true we are still a while from that becoming a complete reality but the foundation is being laid. Steem is still outpacing most other blockchains with the progress it is making.
We tend to magnify our problems while minimizing others. There was an article this week that came out but an ex-employee of BitTorrent who said that Tron will NOT be able to handle the volume of transactions. According to some on here, Tron was the blockchain that was going to put Steem out of business.
Since I joined Steemit Inc did a horrible job of communicating with the community. Was it arrogance of simply the fact they lack the knowledge of how important it is? I cannot answer that and will say they are not the only ones doing this. I see other projects who lack any communication ability whatsoever.
Either way, the optics on this are terrible. It is also another reason why the community needs to do all it can to move towards further decentralization. In the long run, I believe all of this will help this blockchain.
A Whale powering down does not inspire confidence in the community. When, however, it is one that showed itself to be a bit of a problem child, it could be a good thing. We need to alter the landscape of the distribution of Steem Power. Having a major power down makes everyone's account more valuable in terms of their stake.
While Steemit did not say how much of the Steem will be sold, if any, we do know they have a regular amount they move to pay bills.
Personally, I do hope some of that stake finds it's way to the open market. We need that to get into the hands of different people.
All part of the growing process.

Are we at that point where the community officially wants to get rid of Steemit.inc ?
I don't know about you guys, but the behavior of @ned and co. is really suspicious. Every company that is in financial need would do everything to improve its relation with its clients or Steem Users. But @ned is hiding, not communicating and only showing a leck of professionalism.
At some point the community really shouldn't tolerate this kind of behavior and speak out against Steemit.inc, there are other great Blockchain Developers who would love to grab the opportunity in this bear market when prices are down and to develop the Steem Chain further.

Unfortunately, I have to agree. I often defended @ned (without him and @dan we wouldn't have this amazing blockchain), but announcing a livestream and then just disappear without any explanation ... would you behave like that when you had an appointment with a friend or a business partner? Just unthinkable!
Furthermore nobody else from Steemit Inc. felt responsible for making any statement concerning the cancellation of that livestream. What about @andrarchy? I thought his task was communication between the company and the community? However, he comments only a few times per month and most of the time doesn't reply at all!
Yeah its a really desperate situation that we as a decentralized community have to bag for communication to regards of the Steem Blockchain development.
It becomes everyday more clear that a centralized company like Steemit.inc is not benefiting our open decentralized Steem ecosystem. They need to be more transparent, willing to communicate and collaborate with others and create there own revenue system.
I agree @masterthematrix.
At some point, the community will get tired of the antics. Perhaps Steemit sees the writing on the wall and is going to step back. I cannot tell since they are silent as can be.
Steem is much bigger than Steemit and that means we are going to forge ahead in spite of them.
@ned was in Steem Speak last night and for quite a while...
But a higher profile in all of Steem would be better, IMO.
Interesting what did he had to say? Anything worth mentioning?
I was just there for the tail end of it, looked like some simple Q&A on dev-level topics... I did not bother to scroll up. Everyone seemed calm, nd there are some really big players at SS. Big-ass Dolphins and up, many Orca and a whale or 3. @fyrstikken owns it. (the discord)
I know all the musicians of Steemit are already looking at other projects outside of the STEEM blockchain. Good job @ned & and his fake guitar!!! This is free market baybay!!!
Doesn't mean anything to me, Steemit.inc can go away and take their stake, if this place keeps running I'll be here, I think that this could be important in the Steem development, we want a decentralized place right?, so this can only go in the right direction if they leave.
Steemit.inc can go away and take their stake
Selling it is Far Better, keeping that many coins would still give them a huge amount of control and influence. I for one am still buying ;-)
True that , I agree
Personally I think they're go to sell...
I hope they atleast sell using OTC trades so the market does not crash
Discounted OTC sales ;)
Steemit is NOT steem.
We need to keep pushing and reminding ALL of the community of this.
The further SteemIt.inc moves away, the better shot Steem can moon.
INCOMPETENCE AND VANITY, THAT'S ALL BEHIND THAT GUY...
😱😱😱
Also @misterdelegation pulled delegation from several dapps. Probably this will continue so we can't rely on Steemit Inc's delegation for curation by dapps.
RIP @dtube votes in advance i guess
Thank you so much for participating the Partiko Delegation Plan Round 1! We really appreciate your support! As part of the delegation benefits, we just gave you a 3.00% upvote! Together, let’s change the world!
This is really not helping people's confidence at all on the steem blockchain.
This blockchain will survive and become resilient of Steemit Inc who suks to manage this company. The community will take the ownership and moon it and I still believe it. :)
If it can withstand the dump
Everything is possible at this point, at least the steem will be spread among more players.
