While walking through the pretty little streets of Büyükada Island near Istanbul, we saw a house where a lot of cats were gathered around some food that had been set out for them.

The old lady who lives there explained that because she takes such good care of these street cats, she hasn't gone on a vacation in five years.
It takes a lot of love and time to look after animals like this, and not many people do it.Still, there are some people in the world who spend their lives helping animals. After all, they are God's creatures and deserve kindness and respect.Even though most people in Turkey treat animals well, there are still some special people like this old woman who go out of their way to help.

Besides the cats that come up to the house to eat, there's one black cat that stays away from the others and doesn't seem interested in the food.
The old woman said this cat is very shy and only comes to eat when she feeds it directly. She waits patiently until the other cats are done before she eats.

Büyükada is the biggest of the Princes' Islands in the Sea of Marmara near Istanbul.
It's known for its old Ottoman-style wooden houses, car-free streets, and a tradition of taking care of the many stray cats and dogs that live there.

Have you ever met someone who spends their whole life looking after animals?
What do you think about those who care for animals in small but meaningful ways?
