ENDEAVOUR TO BRIDLE YOUR TONGUE

“IN THE MULTITUDE OF WORDS SIN IS NOT LACKING, but he who restrains his lips is wise.”
Proverbs 10:19 (NKJV)

• If you can control your appetite for food and sex, you can go far in spiritual things.
• Another thing is the control of speech, that is, the ability to minimise talking:
“FOR WE ALL STUMBLE IN MANY THINGS. FOR IF ANYONE DOES NOT STUMBLE IN WORD, HE IS A PERFECT [mature] MAN, ABLE TO ALSO BRIDLE THE WHOLE BODY” (James 3:2 NKJV).

“FOR HE WHO WOULD LOVE LIFE AND SEE GOOD DAYS, LET HIM REFRAIN [restrain] HIS TONGUE FROM EVIL, AND HIS LIPS FROM SPEAKING DECEIT.”
1 Peter 1:10 (NKJV)

Anyone who talks much is living a leaking life.
Things some people supposed to conceal have been told to people who would not want them to succeed in life: "HE WHO HAS KNOWLEDGE SPARES HIS WORDS, AND A MAN OF UNDERSTANDING IS OF A CALM SPIRIT” (Proverbs 17:27 NKJV).

5 DO NOT TRUST IN A FRIEND; DO NOT PUT YOUR CONFIDENCE IN A COMPANION; guard the door of your mouth from her who lies in your bosom.
6 A MAN'S ENEMIES ARE THE MEN OF HIS OWN HOUSEHOLD.”
Micah 7:5,6 (NKJV)

You must be disciplined in talking.
Samuel told Saul about God’s plan to make him [Saul] the new king of Israel, and Saul kept the message to himself.
Saul told his uncle how he met with Samuel and what Samuel told him, but he did not divulge the most important aspect of the message—becoming the new king of Israel:
14 THEN SAUL'S UNCLE SAID TO HIM AND HIS SERVANT, “WHERE DID YOU GO?” So he said, “TO LOOK FOR THE DONKEYS. WHEN WE SAW THAT THEY WERE NOWHERE TO BE FOUND WE WENT TO SAMUEL.” 15 AND SAUL'S UNCLE SAID, “Tell me, please, what Samuel said to you.” 16 SO SAUL SAID TO HIS UNCLE, “He told us plainly that the donkeys had been found.”BUT ABOUT THE MATTER OF THE KINGDOM, HE DID NOT TELL HIM WHAT SAMUEL SAID.”
1 Samuel 10:14-16 (NKJV)

Ability to bridle your tongue is a sign of maturity.
Even a fool is counted as wise when he holds his peace.

“EVEN A FOOL ARE THOUGHT WISE WHEN THEY KEEP SILENT; WITH THEIR MOUTH SHUT, THEY SEEM INTELLIGENT.”
Proverbs 17:28 (NKJV)

You will not fail in Jesus’ name. Peace!
