Citizen Kane: IntriguingsteemCreated with Sketch.

Anothre trip, another catching up on old movies. Espcially THIS one, since it's considered among the best ones EVER. I'm not knowledgeable enough to tell about THAT, but it's certainly worth a look.

Charles Foster Kane, the multimillionaire (billionaire?) press magnate and overall businessman, just died mutteting "Rosebud." Reporters from his main newspaper, the New York Inquirer, take on a mission to find out who (or what) is Rosebud. They thus retrace his life through the people who knew him...

I'm not THAT well-versed into cinema, so I'm can't really say if it's THE best ever-made. However, it IS pretty good. Starting from nearly nothing, the reporters discover who their boss really was: from his life as a little boy in Colorado, where his mom was the sole owner of an expensive land deed to where he died in his modern Xanadu somewhere in Florida. We see his ups and (mostly) downs, all his wealth... as if he were trying to compensate for something.

Be warned that, as with many older movies, it's rather cerebral, so make sure to pay very close attention, especially since the sound isn't very good at times.

Final rating: 4.1/5

"Nice review 👍

Citizen Kane really is one of those classic films that makes you think deeply about life, success, and loneliness.

I liked how you described Kane’s journey from childhood to his final days it really shows the emotional depth of the story Old movies like this may feel slow, but they carry a strong message. Good choice for a rewatch 😊"
