Nightmare on Elm Street: a good horror moviesteemCreated with Sketch.

Plane travel is always a good occasion to catch up with old movies I missed/I was too young to watch. I was curious to see Nightmare on Elm Street, and was surprisingly not dissapointed.

Teens are having strange nightmares. And they are quite realistic; one of them's night gown is torn with "claws." One night, one of them actually dies while being dragged everywhere by that disfigured nightmare creature. However, one of them seems to have found a way to destroy him.

I'm not drawn to horror movies. However, this movie is actually decent. For one, it's FAR superior to Friday the 13th. There are no loose strings and everything gets resolved at the end (with the opening for sequels). Also, I liked the mix between reality and fantasy; the actors' reactions is genuine. And the practical effects are well-done, adding to the spooky mood.

Finally, the way that teen realizes she has the power to drag Freddy to reality was exciting. Her setting of the booby traps was funny, and see their execution too.

IN short, if you don't get nightmares easily, give this movie a try. It's simple, it efficient and will keep you at the edge of your seat.
