RE: The real goal of yoga – it’s much deeper than you think

I like to practice yoga as meditation as I fidget with sitting meditation. However, when I go to a class they usually have pop music blaring out and this reduces the practice to a physical exercise! Great read, thanks 🙏🏽

I find that fascinating. There never used to be such music in yoga, that's a modern addition. And people use it the wrong way - I get that certain mantra and more meditative sounds are conducive to concentration and getting you into that space, but some classes are terrible, selecting pop and techno to rev the energy in the room and they don't link well or anything! One of my good teachers uses music amazingly well and it helps me have a more spiritual practice, which I adore. Sound in yoga practice is actually really sacred and important, helping you along your journey, but not in a class used the wrong way!
