Monero is great. Really solid tech that just gets better with each passing month, open source, great Devs, and under-valued. Lack of light wallet, but soon to change.

Monero is a different project. It is generally accepted to be the most anonymous of the anon coins, and completely obscures a user's identity. It is used by one of the largest darknet sites - AlphaBAy - and so is trusted by those who really care about keeping their identities well-hidden!
