The Multi-Chain USDT Problem Nobody Warns You About

USDT existing across a dozen different networks is convenient until it isn't. The moment you're holding TRC20 USDT and need ERC20, because an exchange, a contract, or a platform only accepts one specific network, you discover these aren't interchangeable at all, just tokens that happen to share a ticker symbol.

The usual fixes are clumsy: route through a centralized exchange that supports both networks and hope the withdrawal process is smooth, or use a bridge and accept a wrapped-token detour. A direct cross-chain exchange sidesteps both, convert TRC20 to ERC20 (or the reverse) as a single transaction, no intermediate custodial holding period, no wrapped asset.

It's a narrow use case, but a common one, and it's a good illustration of what cross-chain infrastructure is actually for: not speculation, just making a multi-chain asset landscape less annoying to navigate.
