There are plenty of photo apps. Most of them send your pictures to someone else's server, quietly read your location, and you never get control back over what happens to them. WelSnap does it differently – from the ground up.

WelSnap is the photo module of the Welako platform. Think of it like Snapchat or Instagram for the Steem blockchain: take a photo, share it, discover others. The difference is underneath. What you post publicly here is a real Steem post – not an entry in a closed database that can be switched off tomorrow.

Real moments instead of a curated gallery

The most important thing first, because it's what makes WelSnap what it is: you only publish what you capture live with the camera, right there. No pictures from your gallery, no saved downloads, no old photos from three years ago. What you see in WelSnap is real and now.

That's the difference from Instagram & co., where every image can be endlessly edited and dug out of an archive. WelSnap is honest: the moment, as it was.

A snap is a real Steem post

When you publish a photo publicly in WelSnap, it becomes a regular Steem post – tagged with welsnap, visible in any Steem frontend. Not just in WelSnap. Under each post it honestly says "Posted via Welako WelSnap". You're not locked inside an app – you post into an open network that belongs to you.

WelSnap understands the information in your pictures

Every photo carries invisible extra data. WelSnap reads it and shows it to you in a clear panel called "Capture info": capture date and time, camera model, exposure and resolution.

And if a location is attached, it becomes more than a bare number: WelSnap finds the real place name and shows you a small map right on the post – with a pin at the spot the photo was taken. On top of that, two views you'll hardly find in any other photo app:

A real map where your snaps appear as pins at the places they were taken. You can see at a glance everywhere you've been.
A monthly calendar that arranges your photos by capture date. Your memories, sorted by time instead of by chance.

Location yes – but you decide how precise

The part we're especially proud of, because almost nobody gets it right: you choose yourself how precise your location becomes in public. Four levels:

Off – no location at all
Approximate (~5 km) – the region
Closer (~1 km) – the area, your town
Exact – the precise position

If you choose "approximate", your location is actually coarsened before it's shared – the map then shows only a radius, not your front door. And the telltale location data is always removed from the image file when publishing. Anyone who downloads your photo finds no hidden address in it. Privacy not as fine print, but built in.

New: "Only for me" – your private photos stay private

Not every moment is for the whole world. That's why every snap has a simple switch: "Public on Steem" or "Only for me".

If you choose "Only for me":

Your photo does not go onto the blockchain and is visible to no one else – not in the feed, not in Discover, not in your public profile.
Only you see it – in your own profile, on your own map and in the calendar.
And because it isn't on the immutable blockchain, you can delete it again at any time.

So WelSnap becomes both in one app: your public photo album for the Steem community – and your private one that belongs only to you.

Photos that can earn you something

Because a public snap is a real Steem post, everything that makes Steem special applies too: anyone who sees your picture can reward it with a vote right inside WelSnap – on-chain, with real voting power. And anyone who wants to support you can also send you donations in STEEM (and for everyone without crypto, there's even a way via PayPal).

Es gibt viele Foto-Apps. Die meisten schicken deine Bilder auf einen fremden Server, lesen still den Standort mit und du bekommst nie wieder Kontrolle über das, was mit ihnen passiert. WelSnap macht das anders – von Grund auf.

WelSnap ist das Foto-Modul der Welako-Plattform. Stell es dir vor wie ein Snapchat oder Instagram für die Steem-Blockchain: Foto machen, teilen, entdecken. Der Unterschied liegt darunter. Was du hier öffentlich postest, ist ein echter Steem-Beitrag – kein Eintrag in einer geschlossenen Datenbank, die morgen abgeschaltet werden kann.

Echte Momente statt kuratierter Galerie

Das Wichtigste zuerst, denn das macht WelSnap aus: Du veröffentlichst nur, was du direkt vor Ort mit der Kamera aufnimmst. Keine Bilder aus der Galerie, keine gespeicherten Downloads, keine alten Fotos von vor drei Jahren. Was du in WelSnap siehst, ist echt und jetzt.

Das ist der Unterschied zu Instagram & Co., wo jedes Bild endlos bearbeitet und aus dem Archiv gekramt sein kann. WelSnap ist ehrlich: der Moment, wie er war.

Ein Snap ist ein echter Steem-Post

Wenn du in WelSnap ein Foto öffentlich veröffentlichst, entsteht daraus ein regulärer Steem-Beitrag – getaggt mit welsnap, sichtbar in jedem beliebigen Steem-Frontend. Nicht nur in WelSnap. Unter jedem Beitrag steht ehrlich „Gepostet via Welako WelSnap". Du bist nicht in einer App eingesperrt – du postest in ein offenes Netzwerk, das dir gehört.

WelSnap versteht die Informationen in deinen Bildern

Jedes Foto trägt unsichtbare Zusatzdaten in sich. WelSnap liest sie aus und zeigt sie dir in einem übersichtlichen Panel „Aufnahme-Infos": Aufnahmedatum und Uhrzeit, Kameramodell, Belichtung und Auflösung.

Und wenn ein Standort dabei ist, wird daraus mehr als eine nackte Zahl: WelSnap ermittelt den echten Ortsnamen und zeigt dir eine kleine Karte direkt am Beitrag – mit Pin am Aufnahmeort. Dazu zwei Ansichten, die du in kaum einer anderen Foto-App findest:

Eine echte Karte, auf der deine Snaps als Pins an ihren Aufnahmeorten erscheinen. Du siehst auf einen Blick, wo du überall unterwegs warst.
Ein Monats-Kalender, der deine Fotos nach Aufnahmedatum ordnet. Deine Erinnerungen, sortiert nach Zeit statt nach Zufall.

Standort ja – aber du entscheidest, wie genau

Der Teil, auf den wir besonders stolz sind, weil ihn fast niemand richtig macht: Du wählst selbst, wie präzise dein Standort öffentlich wird. Vier Stufen:

Aus – gar kein Standort
Ungefähr (~5 km) – die Region
Genauer (~1 km) – die Gegend, dein Ort
Exakt – die genaue Position

Wählst du „ungefähr", wird dein Standort tatsächlich vergröbert weitergegeben – die Karte zeigt dann nur einen Umkreis, nicht deine Haustür. Und die verräterischen Standortdaten werden beim Veröffentlichen immer aus der Bilddatei entfernt. Wer dein Foto herunterlädt, findet darin keine versteckte Adresse. Datenschutz nicht als Kleingedrucktes, sondern eingebaut.

Neu: „Nur für mich" – deine privaten Fotos bleiben privat

Nicht jeder Moment ist für die ganze Welt. Deshalb hat jeder Snap einen einfachen Schalter: „Öffentlich auf Steem" oder „Nur für mich".

Wählst du „Nur für mich":

Dein Foto geht nicht auf die Blockchain und ist für niemanden sonst sichtbar – nicht im Feed, nicht in der Entdecken-Ansicht, nicht in deinem öffentlichen Profil.
Nur du siehst es – in deinem eigenen Profil, auf deiner eigenen Karte und im Kalender.
Und weil es nicht auf der unveränderlichen Blockchain liegt, kannst du es jederzeit wieder löschen.

So wird WelSnap beides in einer App: dein öffentliches Fotoalbum für die Steem-Community – und dein privates, das nur dir gehört.

Fotos, die dir etwas einbringen können

Weil ein öffentlicher Snap ein echter Steem-Beitrag ist, gilt auch alles, was Steem ausmacht: Jeder, der dein Bild sieht, kann es direkt in WelSnap mit einem Vote belohnen – on-chain, mit echter Voting-Power. Wer dich unterstützen möchte, kann dir außerdem Spenden in STEEM schicken (und für alle ohne Krypto gibt es sogar einen Weg über PayPal).
