Nadi meets a young and energetic small dog.... and hates him

I haven't been taking Nadi out a great deal lately because it is brutally hot right now. Just a short 500 meter walk around the block normally has her panting and very thirsty so the idea of taking her out for long periods of time is something that we just cannot do.

The old shady and wind-blown walks on the beach are banned now because of new park rules and this is a shame since it was one of the only cooler areas I could take her.

There is a local pub that she is a bit of a celebrity at though and in the evenings I will walk her by there and put her in a chair at the door while I have a few bottles of subs with my friends. We don't stay long, but this time we noticed another dog, even smaller than Nadi, that was running around on the ground.

His name is Milo and if he weights 2kg I would be surprised. He is easy to pick up with one hand and has the body size of a small rabbit. he also bounds around like a mad lad just like you would expect a rabbit to do. He is very young and has a lot of the puppy energy. Nadi, even when she was young, has never been like this and there are times that I wish she would but mostly I am happy that she is super chill and cool with just lying around. When faced with this sort of energy though, Nadi doesn't embrace it. She fears it and loathes it and will bark at any dog that gets too active, including Milo.

Milo certainly took an interest in Nadi though, as dogs tend to and because Nadi's eyesight isn't so good, it actually took a while for Nadi to notice that Milo was even there because she was up on her safe perch on the bar stool. Milo circled below like a shark though.

When Nadi did finally notice Milo, she just barked off a couple of warning shots to let him know that she was not in the mood for his tom-foolery.

I couldn't resist though and I went down to pet Milo a bit and Nadi did not like that at all. I briefly picked Milo up and Nadi growled and barked and then jumped to another seat at the table. It was clear that she was not a fan of me showing affection for another animal and I have no desire to hurt her feelings so I just put Milo down.

Milo wanted more attention though so I carried him back to the shop that he lives at... and he just followed me back.

I like Milo but this street is a busy street and I fear that if his owners do not cut some of his freedom out of his life that he is going to end up as a street pancake. I certainly hope that doesn't happen.
