Millions of Transactions Per Second

in #eos8 years ago (edited)

Aloha, friends!

The EOSIO technical whitepaper states that the architecture "may ultimately scale to millions of transactions per second." While we are currently a long way from that level, we will continually strive toward making improvements that will push that goal ever closer. To that end, today we’re very excited to announce our EOS Block Producer Benchmarks tool.

This tool charts the CPU execution time from a custom dApp that was written specifically for the purpose of benchmarking. Our aim is for it to be as objective and accurate as possible across block producers. We expect this will be a valuable tool for BPs to see and potentially improve their performance. Additionally, we urge block producers to share any newfound best practices for increasing performance in an effort to improve the overall network.

The data, methods, and strategy for this project are brought to you by EOS Mechanics, a collaborative research initiative dedicated to the continuous improvement of the EOS network infrastructure. We seek to accomplish this through cutting-edge experimentation and objective measurement of block producers’ performance.

Aloha EOS firmly believes that the future of EOS is brighter than ever. As we watch the maturation of the overall EOS ecosystem with excitement and anticipation, we’ll continue to focus on producing high-quality tools such as this benchmark, that provide benefit to block producers and ultimately the EOS community at large. If you appreciate what we’re doing, we would welcome a vote cast in our direction (alohoaeosprod) for block production.

Until next time, mahalo!

Wow, that's too fast transaction speed compared to ripple at 1,500 transactions per second and etherium which has 15 transactions per second; and the slowest of them all none other than the: bitcoin which has only 7 transactions per second. That is why daily there are tons of pending transactions on queue. Sometimes the delay took days before it succeed, lol

EOS's current target is a stable 1000 tps. Even 400 - 500 tps makes most small accounts run out of CPU. Config file line 63:

const static uint32_t default_target_block_net_usage_pct = 10 * percent_1; /// we target 1000 TPS

Any word on when Steemit 2.0 is coming?

@alohaeos Very informative. It makes me more encouraging!
I am sure that this will have an effective article on the price of the EOS prices... How can I give my input for this project? @printskill

wow!it's too fast transaction rate

Its very nice improvement. I hope it will grow more and more.

Aloha :)
I’ll look into Aloha EOS

Will be moving to Hawaii soon and it’s nice to see EOS community there :)

Nice faith @alohaeos..I'm curious about whether or not eos works in a practical way. I've seen interviews of testimonies of people using Etherium to launch projects that tokenize silver bullion bars for example. What does eos actually do? And what examples are there of finished projects?

EOS Dice, EOS Bet, EOS Knights are some popular apps that are currently running on EOS and seem to be successful.

Thank you @alohaeos. It's just that I'd never known is eos was successful or not after it's ICO. I love Mr Larimer and still think he's 1 of the most underrated ever, but I don't know enough on the progress from eos. What does EOS Knights do?
