Peace Offering

Like a pretty little rose,
Not red, but with glossy rare dark petals,
Reverent love beckoned to me...
With that teeny weeny bit of poetry...

Then with instinctive unrefined habits,
Like those of men with small schooling,
I forgot duty and followed desire...
And burnt my rose in desire's fire...

Now I need a peace offering...
