Prayer of Tobit: Then he will turn to you and will no longer hide his face from you. Tobit 13:6

The Book of Tobit is a book of the Old Testament that has spiritual similarities with the Book of Job; both books are written with the aim of imparting a particular ethical teaching: the designs of providence are mysterious, and all human wisdom must submit to trust in God, because sooner or later, despite the difficulties, God rewards his own.
The Book of Tobit begins by stating that this character was an upright and God-fearing man: "I, Tobit, have traveled along the paths of truth and righteousness throughout all the days of my life" Tobit 1:3. But despite his good works, Tobit's fear of God was tested as he suffered persecution and was left completely blind in an accident, depending on his family for survival. And Tobit said a prayer to God and thought that he had little time left to live, and remembered that he had money saved in reserve in the region of Media, and decided to send his son Tobias to claim the money. And the book relates that God heard Tobit's prayer and sent an angel to his aid. The book continues its story and explains that Tobias, with the help of the angel, successfully completed his journey, found a wife, and found a remedy to cure his father, Tobit.
And as is usual in the Old Testament, a song is sung to testify to an extraordinary event, so the Book ends with a prayer from Tobit to God. And with these words, the song begins: "Blessed be God who lives forever, for his kingdom endures throughout all ages" Tobit 13:1.
With these words, Tobit reminded the Bible readers that God is wise, eternal, and that through his mysterious providence, he accomplishes his will. The Kingdom of God is then that kingdom of mercy that is poured out upon men, like the sun radiates its rays, but men, in order to be blessed by this mercy, must allow themselves to be loved.
But then Tobit added something else: "If you turn to him with all your heart and soul to do what is right in his presence, then he will turn to you and will no longer hide his face from you" Tobit 13:6. God does not want evil for humankind, but evil exists simply because people have the capacity to choose between being constructive or destructive. And so, in his love, God calls people to conversion of heart so that they may find the right path and find his presence. Tobit's prayer is therefore a plea for the blessedness of all humanity.
Tobit's prayer then ends with a prophecy about the rebuilding of Jerusalem and the salvation of those who fear God.
