Feathered Friday: Hummers

The hummingbirds have returned from the South. There are usually three that hang around the property all summer.

These cute tiny birds are a delight to see at the feeder.

This is the male ruby-throated Hummer.

I have two feeder and the male seems to like this one.

The female who visits doesn’t have the red throat. She visits the bigger feeder at the back deck.

The hummers like to sit on the clothesline near the feeder. The can’t stand and use their feet to clasp around a small branch or something like the clothesline.

Wonderful hummingbird photos! I can truly appreciate them because I spent much of the afternoon trying to take photos of mine! Man, they are fast! The pictures I spent about 3 hours taking are all still in the camera because I don't think I got a single one that is any good. I'll try again another day. Thanks for sharing your hummers with #featheredfriday!

Welcome Melinda @melinda010100. They sure are fast and hard to capture. It was so great seeing they had returned safely. 💕

Rarely do I see photos of hummingbirds this close -- they are so fast! But these are lovely!

Thanks @deeannmathews. I worry about bigger birds catching/eating them but I don’t think they could catch the hummers ...they are fast as lightning 🌩
