Suomieksotiikkaa SAATANA! - A Used to Gas Station
On my way to Lieksa in Eastern-Finland I encountered this small ancient-looking gas station and I thought it would make a good inclusion for Suomeksotiikkaa SAATANA (Finnish exotica for fuck sakes!) series that @eveuncovered has created.
It is in an area called Rautavaara ("Iron Hill").
The "tourist attractions" consist of nature and trails, huts and few accommodations.
There was this building next to, saying "maatalous" (agriculture in English).
I'm not sure what it is, but looking at the back it looked like someone might've been living there, because there was some stuff you'd see next to a front door of someone's house.
Some kind of tanks that look like they've been there for a while.
An active recycling spot though.
You hit a goldmine with this one for Suomieksotiikkaa STNA! This is exactly the kind of feel I wanted the series to have, the old and abandoned, places that were once in good use, saw a lot of people every day, but are now completely discarded.
Yeah, it was a peculiar find in the sense that it was right next to the main road I was cycling. Never seen that type of small station with dual pumps before irl.
Dang that thing is old. Hope you get lucky and stumble on more relics
I don't think I'll encounter such relics much more because there won't be too much "wasteland" on the way back.
