What is disc forging?
A forged disc is a circular metal component produced using the forging process. Forging involves heating a metal bar or billet and shaping it into the desired finished product by applying compressive force through hammering or pressing. Compared to other manufacturing methods like casting, forged discs are renowned for their superior strength, durability, and fatigue resistance. They are commonly used in critical applications within the aerospace, automotive, and oil and gas industries.
What is disc forging?
The disc forging process is used to manufacture large steel discs for industrial equipment, valves, and other high-pressure components in the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries.
Forged discs and hubs have a much shorter length-to-diameter ratio than round bars, yet they can be extremely massive. They are widely used in machinery for manufacturing applications.
Forged discs offer strength and durability. Like all forgings, forged discs and blanks possess a superior microstructure compared to parts made via other metal-forming methods (such as those cut from plate).
