A 10-Minute Meditation Session

in #freewrite8 days ago

July 26, Sunday.
At 10:11 a.m., I set an alarm for 10:22, quickly put down my phone, and began to meditate according to the instructions in the book.
I seated myself on the edge of the bed, legs naturally resting on the floor. I tried to keep my back as straight as possible. Very soon, I closed my eyes naturally, because I felt it was rather tiring to keep them open.

“When the eyes are open, just see; when the eyes are closed, just listen.” I followed this one instruction from the book.
At first, I listened to the rain outside, the sounds or thoughts arising within, and occasionally, images from recent work appeared.
When I gazed at a sound or thought that arose, wanting to continue listening and hear what it would say next, it disappeared.
The occasional images were the same: the moment I saw them, they vanished.

I felt my breath; it was very short. I began to take deep breaths and felt much more comfortable.
At first, the deep breathing was not very smooth, and I could simultaneously feel which part of my body was tense.
Based on the feedback from my breathing—whether it became smoother—I adjusted my chest, shoulders, neck, and back until the deep breathing flowed smoothly. Without looking in a mirror, I could tell that my posture was good at that moment.

Soon, the alarm went off. This meditation session was truly enjoyable.
