Borderlands: The Handsome Collection
Welcome back folks, it’s that time of the week again, time for your weekly game review fix.
It has been far too long since our last game review and really I hope you kept those thumbs busy with all the games I featured here in the past. Since our last chat I have mostly been playing Elder Scrolls Online, which can get pretty in depth and very technical, and it just never ends. Luckily I'm on PlayStation and if you have a bit of extra cash money or steem lying around, PlayStation Plus is the way to go, because every month you get a game or two thrown your way. Last month the free game just happened to be this one, which has so far been pretty fun.
The first Borderlands which was released back in 2009 for the PS3 was an epic game, so epic that our band the Hogs actually started a group and we only played the game in group co-op. We even went as far as scheduling Borderlands evenings like we did band practice, and those who couldn't make or arrived late had to buy everyone else a pint at the next band practice. The game consists of both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel as well as all the add-on content, but unfortunately not the first Borderlands. So far I have only really paid attention to Borderlands 2, in the spirit of following the story as it was released, then once done with that I'll move on to The Pre-Sequel. I personally think what would have made this collection even more handsome was if they had included the Borderlands 1 Remastered Edition.
Our story begins five years after the events of the first Borderlands, when the four Vault Hunters, Roland, Mordecai, Lilith, and Brick.
Who were guided by a mysterious entity known as "The Guardian Angel" on the planet of Pandora to a strange alien structure known only as the Vault, which holds exotic technology and riches. Instead, these Vault Hunters were confronted by an alien abomination known as The Destroyer inside the Vault. After defeating him, a valuable mineral called "Eridium" started flourishing through Pandora's crust and the four vault hunters became heroes.
This time round our six Vault Hunters, Axton, Gaige, Krieg, Maya, Salvador, and Zer0 are aboard a train on the planet of Pandora. Handsome Jack, the president of the Hyperion Corporation, sabotages the train and leaves the Vault Hunters for dead in a frozen wasteland, where they are found by Claptrap. The Guardian Angel contacts the Vault Hunters and instructs them to accompany Claptrap to the city of Sanctuary, and to join the Crimson Raiders, an anti-Hyperion resistance movement, in order to defeat Handsome Jack. Upon arriving at Sanctuary our heroes are asked to rescue Roland, now leader of the Crimson Raiders, who has been captured by a bounty hunter called the Firehawk. Who then turns out to be Lilith the Siren. Both Roland and Lilith were one of the characters you were able to play from the previous game, and they have now tasked you with finding the other two members of the team Mordecai and Brick, before taking on Handsome Jack.

Apart from the excruciating pain, this is great! I've been waiting for a mighty Vault Hunter to help me reach Sanctuary. I will be your wise leader, and you shall be my fearsome minion!" - Claptrap
All in all the Handsome Collection is a great continuation of a great series, especially if you were a fan of the original.
The first thing I should mention is that there is a massive amount of content warped up in the game, basically two full stand alone games plus all the add-on content, so definitely a value for money buy. Gearbox also beefed up the textures and lighting effects with this re-release as well as going full 1080p. If you have never played Borderlands and you are thinking of picking this up, the first advice I can give you is, don't get attached to loot and gear. The developers are very generous with equipment dropping, it's like the scene in the Matrix where Neo says he needs guns, lots of guns. You'll have a different kind of gun drop on literally every second or third bad guy you kill. Not only is this an amazing shooters, but the gear and skill progression are still some of the best you can find among action RPG games.
Each character in the game has a different play style, so best is to give all of them a try before settling in on what you prefer most. In the first game I ended up with the Siren, so without skipping a beat I stuck with her. There are also complete different character options for both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, giving you a total of 12 character options. If you are looking for a great shooter and a good deal, this is the game for you.
Borderlands: The Handsome Collection is a compilation of first-person shooter video games developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K Games.
You might have seen or heard of Gearbox Software or even played one of their games in the past, they brought us some great titles like Aliens: Colonial Marines, Brothers in Arms and about six Half-Life expansions. The collection consists of both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, along with all of their accompanying downloadable content, enhanced local multiplayer, and the ability to transfer save data from their respective PlayStation 3/Vita and Xbox 360 versions.
Also Borderlands 3 was announced last year some time and is expected to released on 13 September 2019 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
I'm giving Borderlands 2 a rating of 7.5/10

Man, I can't wait for Borderlands 3, even though I'm probably gonna wait for it to be released on Steam before buying it.
I think Handsome Jack is one of the best villains ever, he just kills it.
It has been a long time since the last time. I already missed these reviews. Although I'm not a big fan of video games, I've learned certain things from your posts. From what you say, Borderlands is great! Not only because it's a game that gives you the chance to create your characters and weapons, a role-playing game, but it also gives you the chance to win prizes, either power or even some money, so I think it's great. What's not clear to me is whether you can play as a team or alone. I think that after all the worldwide publicity that Fortnite has had, like we should be more attentive to this kind of games and not believe that they are a waste of time. I had missed his posts about video games, not so much because I'm dedicated to them, but because I have access to updated and serious information about them. In this world you have to be well informed!
I notice that this game -Borderlands- retains that feature that calls my attention (very postmodern) hybridization between genres: there is something western, police, war, even esoteric aspects. Surely it will be a very fun game. Thank you, @MorkRock.
