100th Palestinian citizen of Israel killed in 2026

A 50-year-old Palestinian man, who is a citizen of Israel, has been shot dead in the northern Israeli city of Shefa-Amr, according to media reports.

The death marks the 100th killing of a Palestinian citizen of Israel this year, according to the Wafa news agency, and comes amid an unprecedented rise in murders in the Palestinian community there.

Wafa said the Israeli police have failed to address the issue, noting that the majority of murders have not been solved and involve an “unknown perpetrator”.

According to Wafa, some 90 of the victims this year were shot dead while others were stabbed and one woman burned to death inside a vehicle. Around 48 of those killed were under the age of 30, including eight women, while three others were shot dead by Israeli police, it reported.

Besides being subjected to discriminatory legislation, Palestinian citizens of Israel face increasing violence in Israel. In 2025, some 300 people were murdered in Israel and 252 of the victims were Palestinians.

According to Israel’s census, there are about 1.9 million Palestinians with Israeli citizenship in 2019. Most are descendants of Palestinians who remained in Israel when it was founded in 1948.

About 750,000 Palestinians were expelled or had to flee their homes in the lead-up to Israel’s creation that year. Thousands more were killed by Zionist militias.
