Gosaikunda
Gosaikunda is a famous sacred alpine lake located in the Rasuwa District of Nepal, inside Langtang National Park. It lies at an altitude of about 4,380 meters (14,370 feet) above sea level and is one of the country's most important religious and trekking destinations.
According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva created Gosaikunda by striking the mountain with his trident (Trishul) after drinking the deadly poison during the Samudra Manthan. Because of this belief, thousands of Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims visit the lake every year, especially during the Janai Purnima festival, to take a holy bath.
Gosaikunda is also popular among trekkers because of its breathtaking mountain scenery, crystal-clear water, and peaceful environment. The area is home to many alpine lakes, unique plants, and wildlife, including rare species found in Langtang National Park.
Gosaikunda is a perfect destination for people who love nature, adventure, and spirituality. It is one of Nepal's most beautiful natural and cultural treasures.
