Spiritual growth: Evil people will surely be punished, but the children of the godly will go free. Proverbs 11:21
The Book of Proverbs is a sapiential book of the Bible that teaches sensible people many phrases for spiritual growth. Meditating on the teachings of this book is meditating on the thoughts of the great sages, like King Solomon, who investigated the knowledge of truth and the most important science for man: wisdom. Because when all the sciences of man are ordered towards wisdom, that is when general well-being and the happiness of all arise. Ignoring the wisdom of the sapiential literature leads to a limited and partial understanding of true spirituality, which can result in much confusion and error. Proverbs complement and deepen the law given by Moses, helping Bible readers to understand how the most excellent knowledge was given specifically to Israel. This is why, among other things, understanding the principles of the Book of Proverbs is to understand the foundations of Christian thought, because this book profoundly influenced the spiritual formation of Jesus.
And among some of its beautiful proverbs, the Book teaches the following phrase of wisdom for spiritual reflection: "Evil people will surely be punished, but the children of the godly will go free" Proverbs 11:21. This teaching is deeply interconnected with the two paths for man, righteousness and sin, and how by the choice of these paths, men are rewarded by the cosmic law of sowing and reaping, as the Bible explains with wisdom: "They sow the wind and reap the whirlwind" Hosea 8:7, "Those who plant injustice will harvest disaster" Proverbs 22:8.
With these teachings, the Bible invites men to seek a sensible, good, and happy life above all else, and not to be led astray by the love of money and fleeting passions that deceive human reason. Those who follow the path of error will sooner or later receive the reward for their mistakes, and those who are edifying, progressive, and benevolent will find security and life; this is the reflection left by the Book of Proverbs. And those who understand this truth in their hearts and put it into practice every day of their lives can truly be said to be wise and intelligent.
