The Deputy Regent of Bireuen, Aceh Province, Razuardi, opened the Technical Guidance (Bimtek) for Disaster-Safe Education Units (SPAB) in commemoration of Disaster Preparedness Day in Bireuen Regency on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.

During the event, the Regent of Bireuen emphasized the importance of strengthening human resource capacity in the education sector to address potential natural disasters, particularly floods and landslides, which frequently hit the region.

In his remarks, Razuardi emphasized that schools must be safe and resilient environments for students. He emphasized the crucial role of educators in building awareness and preparedness for disasters from an early age.

"Schools must be resilient and safe environments for our children. I hope educators will not only be able to identify risks and develop evacuation plans, but also become agents of change who spread a culture of disaster awareness," said Razuardi.

According to him, disaster preparedness in educational settings is a strategic step in minimizing the impact, especially for the younger generation who are vulnerable to disaster risks.

He also appreciated the collaboration of various parties in organizing this activity, which he considered a concrete step in strengthening the disaster mitigation-based education system in the region.

The SPAB Technical Guidance (Bimtek SPAB) activity was initiated by Dompet Dhuafa through the Disaster Management Center (DMC), in collaboration with the Bireuen Regency Government, the Education and Culture Office, and the JDP28 Foundation.

A total of 100 participants from 20 schools participated in the training, which was divided into two groups. Each school sent five representatives to ensure the program's effective implementation in their respective environments.

Through this activity, it is hoped that schools will not only focus on the teaching and learning process but also have a strong preparedness system for facing various potential disasters.
