RE: New advances in creating laboratory sperm from blood cells/Nuevos avances en la creación de espermatozoides de laboratorio a partir de células sanguíneas
An amazing innovation, however it is crucial to remain grounded in reality in terms of expectations. The team of researchers have made first true sperm cells (spermatozoa), even if these are just initial sperm cells (spermatogonia), but that is a substantial success nevertheless. Knowing that, this model may contribute massively to the understanding of the male reproductive issues in the future, as well as the development of possible cures for this problem. At the same time, any attempt to use it commercially in the future will require years of studies, making sure that everything is safe and ethically appropriate. Scientists have made a huge step, but it is still a very long way to go.
