1 million dollars to implement 8,500 robots

The state giant State Wide Corporation of China, responsible for one of the largest electrical networks on the planet, announced an investment of 1 million dollars to implement 8,500 robots with artificial intelligence in electrical sector operations, it is not a technological demonstration, it is restructuring of national infrastructure.

The plan involves a force of machines created to perform more than 600 specialized tasks, replacing a significant part of human maintenance with automated operations. Among the highlights are 500 humanoid robots, intended for the most dangerous jobs, maintenance of energized lines, ultra-high voltage towers and critical environments where any mistake can be fatal.

Along with them will come 5,000 quadrupedal robbery dogs for inspections in difficult areas and 3,000 wheeled robberies with two arms focused on technical tasks and operational support. It is a complete ecosystem, different machines work together in one of the most sensitive infrastructures of any country, energy.

And why invest so much? The answer is cold and powerful, according to the company's own estimates, each robot can save between 70 and 110,000 per year in human labor costs, which places the financial return on the investment between 2 and 3 years, but money may not even be the main reason. The goal is also to reduce human exposure to high-risk environments by more than 90% and reduce safety incidents by about 80%, in other words, fewer accidents, fewer interruptions and more predictability.

The implementation already has an aggressive schedule.

By the end of 2026, embedded AI should cover 30% of the main electrical grid areas. By 2027, 80% of high-risk scenarios and by 2030 will reach almost fully autonomous operations.
