My community is an agriculturally dominated area under Habra Union, Parbatipur Upazila, Dinajpur District, Bangladesh. Most of the people here are directly or indirectly involved in agriculture. Due to fertile land, favorable climate, and a long tradition of farming, agriculture is the main livelihood of this region. 90% of the people in my area are involved in agricultural work every day.

The most common profession in my area is agriculture. People of my area have been involved in agriculture since ancient times. Through this agriculture, people of my area grow wheat, corn, potatoes, rice, these are crops and by selling these crops, they provide their own moral interests and also fulfill the shortage of food needed in their daily lives from this agriculture. They fulfill their own needs and send them to different parts of the country. Also, many products go outside the country.

Since the people of my area are engaged in agriculture, they use agricultural implements. Even 10 years ago, they used cows and ploughs for agricultural work, but these are no longer used. Now it is modern time, so farmers use tractors to cultivate the land and spades to level the land. Although in some areas they use machines to cultivate the land, but my area is not so modern, due to which the land is still cultivated by hand.They are using modern motors for irrigation and hybrid machines for harvesting rice.

Currently, farmers in my area are facing several problems. First, due to lack of rain, they are not able to plant rice on time. Also, due to lack of adequate electricity supply, they are planting the crop very late, which increases the attack of insects.

In my area, they are also facing some obstacles due to lack of timely supply of nitrogen and other nutrients. Due to this, the quantity of government seed rice is very less, due to which not all farmers can purchase government seed rice, so sometimes they have to pay extra money to buy it.

The agricultural profession helps and improves the financial condition of the people of my area. After cultivating rice, they keep a certain amount of rice for home consumption and sell the remaining rice in the market to run the household and spend it on the education of their children. Most of the people of my area depend on agriculture for their transportation, clothing and construction of new houses. Agriculture is the only resource that has improved my area.
