Agricultural Activities Day | 03 March 2026 | "We are harvesting seed potatoes all day long."
Assalamu Alaikum, Today I slept through the Sehri and in the morning I was sound asleep when my elder brother called me up. Today we will harvest our seed potatoes. Even though the oxen plowed in the morning, they could not plow because of the potato plants in the field. We have to remove the dried potato plants first. We, 3 brothers and a worker, started removing the dried potato plants. First, we were keeping them in small piles in the field and then taking those piles out to the field. In the meantime, uncle started digging potato lines in the field with the oxen plow. We did this work until 9 am. After removing the entire field of hum-pulling potato plants, we Potatoes are being plowed by plowing the potato line.
Today we asked 10 female workers to come, they are coming, 13 and there is one male worker. They started collecting the potatoes that were plowed. They finished harvesting the first rows of potatoes before noon. When the first row of potatoes was finished, they started harvesting the second rows with oxen.
I came home and the water in our pond has decreased a lot. I have to water this pond. I made a water line from our rice field. There is a pipe on the bank of the pond and removed the soil there and made a water line. I will quickly release more fish fry here for which I will give water. I took a bath when I got home.
Our potato picking is almost over after noon. But I will keep the potatoes in the winter today and fill them in sacks the next day and keep them in cold storage. However, since the workers have not finished their day yet, we will just spread the potatoes in sacks today and select the ones suitable for seed on them for the rest of the time. My brother is bringing 100 empty bales of two sacks of 50 each from my father. In the sacks for seed potatoes You have to put net bags in the cold storage otherwise the coolies will tear the bags. If you have these net bags, there is no risk of the bags bursting and the potatoes coming out.
We are spreading the sacks in small piles of potatoes so that the women workers can put the potatoes on these sacks. Some potatoes have been scratched by the cow's feet and the skin has peeled off. The workers worked on the potatoes until evening and I was with them when I came home.
When I got home, I saw my two nephews and nieces fighting over their books. I asked them to stop arguing. They stopped fighting on the condition that I watch cartoons. I let them watch cartoons on my PC. I turned it on. I've been working hard since morning today, which made me very tired. In the evening, we all sat down together and broke our fast, Alhamdulillah.
