My creative piece inspired by a broken clock is a poem

A broken clock on the wall
Still tries to speak
Even though it's stiff
And silence taken over

Against the wall,
it takes it support
Now a witness that
no longer moves

Yes twice a day it's provoked to
Tell the truth.
A hard miracle to believe
As if to say; even failure
Has moments it can works.

Maybe it got broken from
Knowing too much
And now it's resting
In a quite surrender

We pass without noticing
It's story, what is time
to something broken?

Formally, it marched with purpose
Showing off in a grand style
Tick tick it sings like one
With pride.

But now dust settles
In a place where motion
Displayed.
Trapped in a silence
That may remain so

When it tell the truth
Twice, it is as if mercy
Is shown to something
That failed to keep up

Oh hand are now in
A stubborn pause
No ticking, no breath
It no longer marked
Moments that slipped
Through our fingers

Now who will count the
Good times and the bad?
Frames are now wrapped
Helpless

Unbothered it rest,
the world keeps Moving
Is it really broken
Or just leant how
To stop moving?

What does the broken clock symbolize in your work?

From my poem above the broken clock does not just refer to an object no. It represents a person carrying deep meaning.

It represents a person whose life has stopped in practicality, not necessarily death, although he is a life but may not be serving it's original purpose. A person that was once full of purpose and agility. But now is in a state of exhaustion, stillness or even withdrawal.

It also represents failure, reflecting how humans feel when they can't keep up with expectations any more. When they have lost zeal or passion to keep pushing.

While the phrase "twice a day it's provoked to tell the truth" represents hope and hidden worth despite the imperfection. You we often think that until something is perfect, it makes no sense. This is Showing us that failure is never the end, something beautiful can come out from any ugly situation as long as it is not unto death.

Is it a story of loss, hope, regret, or second chances?

The poem is not so streamlined, therefore it falls towards loss, hope and a second chance.

We observed the broken clock moved from been a thing of purpose as it matched daily to something no one even remembers worked wonders initially to a place of stillness, a place where it doesn't feel needed or useful any longer. This is what loss feels and looks like. This is loss.

The idea that it tells the truth twice daily introduces us to unexpected hope. This suggest to us that even when broken or in our lowest, something good can be born. Hope builds life, hope tells you to hold on

The second chance it speaks of here is not in respect to starting all over again but a small moment of Grace! Sometimes you don't even need to start all over again, all you just need is grace to stay

Therefore the poem I have written is about loss, softened by hope, gently touched by a second chance.

What lesson does your interpretation carry?

My interpretation carries 4 deep lessons.

  • The worth of a thing or person is not only measured by motion or productivity.

  • Stillness can be intentional and not just caused due to damage as seen in the last paragraph of my poem

Unbothered it rest,
the world keeps Moving
Is it really broken
Or just leant how
To stop moving?

  • Failures in life can still hold moments of truth learning and grace as seen in this phrase

When it tell the truth
Twice, it is as if mercy
Is shown to something
That failed to keep up

  • Another lesson it shows here is that not all losses are empty, some of value can still remain.
