A portrait drawing showing a lady with a yellow hair
Solitude
I look deep inside,
just to catch a glimpse of my life.
But I went too far…
so far I didn’t even notice
when I started going under.
Was it the weight on my shoulders,
or did I choose to stay there,
sitting inside my own thoughts?
Because the more I try to understand,
the more I get stuck.
Like every answer
opens another question.
I sit with it.
No running this time.
No trying to cover it up.
Just me…
and everything I’ve been avoiding.
And somewhere in all that,
I start to see it clearly
not all at once,
but little by little.
Maybe I didn’t lose myself.
Maybe I just went too far
without knowing how to come back.
But I’m learning now…
slowly,
how to find my way back to me.

The images below shows a step by step guide on how I was able to achieve this drawing. Starting from the freehand sketch, the pencil strokes that gave the face some depth and also the coloration on the face of my subject.
