Digital Art | Stafellya: The Guardian of the Deep Sea 🦀

Good afternoon, my dearest #Steemit readers! Happy Friday to everyone—I hope you’re having a wonderful day. This is your friend Manuel here, and I’m really excited to bring you a new #steemexclusive digital illustration that I finished a couple of days ago to share on my blog. This time, I wanted to come up with the concept of an original sea creature that I named Stafellya. It’s a hybrid creature that lives in the depths of the oceans, characterized by its powerful hands that look like crustacean claws. These hands possess such immense gripping strength that they can crush even the hardest rocks and corals—so anyone who tries to mess with it will think twice before doing so.

Por aquí los saluda su amigo Manuel, muy emocionado de traerles una nueva ilustración digital #steemexclusive que terminé hace un par de días para compartir en mi blog. En esta ocasión, quise idear el concepto de una criatura marina original a la cual llamé Stafellya. Se trata de una entidad híbrida que habita en las profundidades de los océanos, caracterizada por sus poderosas manos con apariencia de pinzas de crustáceo, las cuales poseen una fuerza de presión tan enorme que son capaces de romper las rocas y corales más duros, de modo que cualquiera que pretenda meterse con ella se lo pensará muy bien antes de hacerlo.

PROCESS / PROCESO

For the concept and character design, I wanted to blend a serene humanoid aesthetic with crustacean-like aquatic features. I portrayed Stafellya walking gracefully through the water column, featuring soft purple skin tones, vibrant violet eyes, floating brownish hair, and a dark ocean outfit with metallic arm bands and a pendant necklace. Her hands end in claw-like pincer gloves that highlight her formidable crushing strength.

Para el concepto y diseño del personaje, quise fusionar una estética humanoide serena con rasgos acuáticos inspirados en los crustáceos. Retraté a Stafellya desplazándose con gracia a través del agua, luciendo tonos de piel morados, intensos ojos violetas, un cabello castaño que flota suavemente y un atuendo marino oscuro complementado con brazaletes metálicos y un collar. Sus manos terminan en una especie de guantes con forma de pinzas afiladas que resaltan su formidable fuerza de presión.

For the composition and aquatic lighting, I placed her deep underwater surrounded by rising bubbles and swirling currents. The main light source shines down from above as brilliant sunbeams cutting through the blue ocean surface, casting soft highlights over her face, shoulders, and hair, while creating a deep, mysterious contrast in the darker waters below.

Para la composición y la iluminación acuática, la ubiqué en las profundidades del océano, rodeada de burbujas que ascienden y corrientes de agua en espiral. La fuente de luz principal proviene de la parte superior en forma de brillantes rayos de sol que atraviesan la superficie azul del agua, proyectando suaves reflejos sobre su rostro, hombros y cabello, mientras genera un contraste profundo y misterioso con las aguas oscuras del fondo.

For the final details, I focused on rendering the smooth underwater lighting on her skin, the translucent glow of the water bubbles floating around her, and the light reflections on her metallic arm bands and claws. I also fine-tuned the motion effect on her floating hair and surroundings to enhance the sensation of being deep underwater. Creating Stafellya and giving her such a powerful aquatic design was a fantastic creative experience!

Para los detalles finales, me enfocado en el renderizado de la luz acuática sobre su piel, el resplandor translúcido de las burbujas de agua que flotan a su alrededor y los reflejos de luz en sus brazaletes metálicos y pinzas. También ajusté el efecto de movimiento en su cabello flotante y en las corrientes alrededor para reforzar la sensación de estar en las profundidades marinas. ¡Crear a Stafellya y darle un diseño acuático tan poderoso fue una experiencia creativa fantástica!
