I find it hard to say what’s wrong with the eyes, apart from the fact that the original photo shows a woman looking up slightly and appearing to be daydreaming. In your version, she’s looking more straight ahead and also has a faint smile around her mouth, which is missing from the original photo. To know what’s missing, you’d actually need to measure it or trace the original first and then place that over your drawing. Looking at it like this, the distance from the corner of her eye to the top of her head is greater in your version than in the original, whilst that distance is the same as from the corner of her eye to the corner of her mouth; in your version, the area below her mouth is also slightly larger.
I don’t think the drawing is a failure; this only applies if you feel it has to look exactly like the example. The question is whether that needs to be the case. Who knows, perhaps your subconscious has her exactly as you’ve drawn her. I certainly don’t find her ugly; she has lovely soft lines and a very friendly face, despite the corners of her mouth turning down slightly.
I also don’t think I’m the right person to ask what’s wrong, as I’m not at all good at portraits and, at first glance, the proportions of the eyes seem to be correct. The left eye is also about half the size of the other eye, something you can see in the original too, so it could at most be the position of the eyes and the pupils. In some ways, her nose seems a bit too big in your version, but I don’t think that’s the case either if you look closely at the original.
Thank you for supporting my comment. It is highly appreciated.
A happy day @sduttaskitchen.

Thank you for your best wishes, and I wish you the same my dear, darling friend. Indeed, the pleasure was mine! 💞
wow. Thank you
I get your point, but I also feel from the artist standpoint he or she didn’t really want to do an exact replica of the reference image. This happens when you do like a freehand drawing without scaling the reference, and transitioning it to your paper. From the first sketch I could see some sketchy lines he used in trying to get a proportional measurement, especially from the eyes. But along the line he or she freestyled the rest.
But it’s a good thing to still have a near replica, most times I do that each time I get a reference I can’t give a guarantee that I will try and get the real looks that’s because I love to create my own out of something, except if it’s a commission piece where I need to go in details.
