Everyone loves the rainy season, and I enjoy it too. However, these days, whenever it rains, I happen to be at the shop. Just two days ago, my husband had gone to the market. I was alone at the shop, and the weather kept fluctuating between sunshine and clouds—it felt like a game of hide-and-seek; one moment it looked like rain, and the next, the sun would come out. It seemed as though the weather was just playing games.

Suddenly, shortly after my husband left, the clouds gathered, and a heavy downpour began. Seeing the rain made my heart leap with joy. Although my husband had already moved the merchandise inside before leaving, I just had to cover one or two items with plastic sheets. I loved the sound of the rain—the way it drummed against the tin roofs nearby and the general sound of the downpour.

My husband had tied a tripaal sheet over our shop, so a young girl took shelter underneath it to escape the rain. A homeopathic doctor whose clinic is opposite my shop also stepped out to enjoy the weather. The rain was extremely heavy; whenever it pours that hard, water tends to accumulate near our shop. My husband called to say he was stuck somewhere due to the heavy rain and asked me to let him know if anything came up; I told him to stay put so he wouldn't catch a cold.

Before long, the road began to flood with rainwater. Although I wasn't worried about the water itself, the traffic came to a complete halt; people were turning their vehicles around and heading back. The only downside is that business comes to a standstill at times like that. Between the rain and the flooded road, customers can't get through, so you just end up sitting idly at the shop.

That downtime bothers me a little because I feel like my time is being wasted. I’m not getting any shop work done, nor am I able to attend to household chores. Still, one has to enjoy the rain regardless. Since it rains only occasionally, I wish it would rain when I am at home so I could sit back and enjoy a cup of tea.
