Domestic violence—what can I say? People sometimes become so ruthless that they do not hesitate for a moment to inflict pain upon their own wives and children, yet they still expect to be accorded complete respect and honor. They strive to be perceived as upright members of society; indeed, perpetrators of domestic violence lie so profusely that even society—which often knows the truth—sometimes falls for their fabrications and begins to cast doubt upon the very victims.

Why do the victims not raise their voices? Are they weak? No; they remain silent solely for the sake of society and for the sake of their children. They fear that if they speak out, their children's future might be jeopardized—specifically, how would their children ever get married? This is a monumental concern, and it is precisely this fear that emboldens such despicable individuals to continue their torment. Everyone knows who is right and who is wrong, yet despite this, proof is still demanded.

Let me share a specific case with you: a wife lives with her husband and their three children. The husband remains intoxicated throughout the day, constantly engaging in verbal abuse and physical violence. He contributes no money to the household; consequently, the children—specifically the daughters—are forced to abandon their education after completing only the 12th grade and must venture out to earn a living. Their mother, too, is compelled to go out and work.

Inflation is rampant, and she must feed her children—after all, they cannot simply beg. Yet, even this necessity is intolerable to her abusive husband. He casts aspersions upon her character—a tactic he employs because it serves as a remarkably easy weapon to break a woman's spirit: simply cast doubt upon her moral integrity.

Perpetrators of domestic violence sometimes descend into a state of psychosis. There is such an individual within my own extended family—a man who physically assaults his wife and children, subjects his daughters to vile verbal abuse and obscenities, and constantly spies on them. His madness reached an extreme when, in a fit of insanity, he went into the kitchen and turned on the gas stove, intending for an explosion to occur the moment someone attempted to light it. It was only because the children's mother happened to enter the kitchen—where she caught a whiff of leaking gas—that she was able to react immediately. She threw open all the windows in the house and quickly shut off the gas knob; given this incident, wouldn't one conclude that this man would not even hesitate to kill his own wife?

What should be done with people like this? The woman's maternal family is quite vulnerable—lacking in both financial resources and the courage to intervene. They are aware of her suffering and know that her family members are enduring hardships; they want to help. However, they cannot muster the courage to figure out how to do so—how, exactly, could they shoulder the burden of raising three children on their own? It is a large family requiring significant financial support for everything. People remain trapped in this very dilemma, while the audacity of such violent individuals only continues to grow. I would like to ask all of you: how can one help someone escape from the clutches of such a person?

Your post is really emotional and eye-opening. As a man, I believe respect and safety should always be the foundation of any relationship, and no woman deserves to suffer violence in silence. What hurts the most is that many victims stay quiet because of fear, family pressure, or society’s judgment. Thank you for speaking about such an important issue and spreading awareness.
