A shepherd With His Sheep

I was out with the sheep today, I don't do day everyday because I'm actually not always around them but anytime I'm around, I take up that responsibility. I don't even need to be urged to do so, immediately they start making their usual noise in the morning which signals to me that they are hungry, I take them out for breakfast....

But not when the sun is not up to prepare the grass for consumption. Those who have knowledge about grazing knows that its not healthy for these animals to graze while it's still wet or damp, it has its side effect hence the reason we wait for that morning sun to do its magic before we take them out.

Today, I took them to their usual spot where they feed on sumptuous grass but on getting there, I found out that the place has been cleared by the owner. This left me with a mixed feeling. I didn't know if I should be happy that we have some ready made food lying on the ground for immediate consumption or be sad that it would take a while for it to grow since it has been thoroughly cleared.

Anyways, the sheep pounced on the food and started devouring the already prepared food while I sat and watched them do their thing. While they ate, I kept my eyes on them, you know, they can be funny sometimes. You will be surprised to see them leaving the area where you have brought them which obviously have what they need in abundance to where they do not even know...

What I did to reduce this tendency was to tie down the one I perceived to be the leader of the flock. Oh yeah! I hope you ain't surprised, lols. They do have leaders among them. When that leader makes a move, they all follow. In this case, one of the female among the flock happens to be the leader. I tied it and also kept some food around it to keep it busy and comfortable...

But guess what, these guys still manage to stray away from that place, one by one until it became obvious that they they had reduced in number. I had to start signaling and running after them to come back to base... They actually showed me "shege", (I mean trouble) today...they made me understand that I've not cracked their code, since they won't hear my voice and response immediately...lol. it took a lot of effort to get them to obey and follow.

Anyways, I'm still going to be a very good shepherd someday, the kind that his sheep would hear and obey and follow instantly. All the same, it was fun hanging out with them today... I hope it would be more fun the next time I take them out. Of course I would always share the gist with y'all. Thank you for your time friends... Gracias!
