A Day of Love and Celebration: My Boss's Wedding
Some days just stay with you. This was one of them. When my school administrator told me she was getting married and invited us over, I already knew it would be a nice event. What I did not know was just how beautiful the whole day would turn out to be.
The Wedding Ceremony |
|---|
The wedding held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, at 11 Uruan Street, Ewet Offot, Uyo. I did not go alone. A number of us from school made the trip together, including our Head Teacher, and honestly, there was something nice about showing up as a team to support our Admin. The hall itself was simple, nothing over the top, but you could still feel that something important was about to happen.
The ceremony was short, but it still carried a lot of weight. Seeing my boss, someone I interact with almost every day at school, standing there as a bride was one of those moments that shifts how you see a person. She looked beautiful, and you could tell from her face just how happy she was.
Moving to the Reception |

After the short church programme, everyone moved over to Jacksville Event Place, Plot 1 Unit E, Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo. And what a venue. You could tell someone had really put thought into how the place was set up, from the decor to the lighting to how the tables were arranged. My colleagues and I found our seats and settled in together, and it just felt nice being outside the classroom for once, celebrating with the same people you work with every day.

A Reception Done Right |

What really got my attention was how smoothly the whole thing ran. The food was good and plenty, the sound and instrumentation were on point, and the DJ kept people on their feet for most of the evening. I have to give credit to the MC too. Running a reception is not an easy job, but this one handled the crowd and the programme so well that things just moved from one point to the next without any awkward gaps or delays.

Every detail, taken care of
But the real highlight, at least for most of us, was when the couple walked through the aisle into the reception hall. The cheering, the dancing, everyone on their feet, it was just one of those moments. Seeing my boss glowing like that, surrounded by family and friends and people from work, made the whole thing feel personal, even though I was just there as a guest.

The moment everyone had been waiting for
Heading Back Home |
|---|
As the evening started winding down, people slowly began to head home. There's a particular kind of tiredness that comes after a good celebration, the good kind, not the draining kind. Before we left, we gathered as staff for one last group photo.
Everyone was smiling, some people still humming songs the DJ had played earlier. It felt like a fitting way to end the day, not just capturing the event itself but the bond we shared as colleagues who came together to celebrate someone we all respect.

Before we head back, one more memory to keep."
It really was an honor being part of this celebration with my colleagues, and a good reminder that even outside school walls, we share a lot more than just work. We share moments like these too.
