🥥 Step 1 – Preparing the Sweet Coconut Filling

First, I prepared the sweet coconut filling. For this, I mixed grated coconut with sugar syrup, a little cardamom, and a pinch of salt. I mixed everything well until the flavors blended together perfectly.

🍃 Step 3 – Spreading the Dough on the Kenda Leaf

After cleaning the kenda leaves thoroughly, I took a suitable amount of the prepared kurakkan dough and spread it evenly on the surface of each leaf.

🥮 Step 4 – Filling and Shaping the Helapa

Then, I placed a portion of the sweet coconut filling onto the flattened kurakkan layer. After that, I carefully folded and shaped the Helapa using the leaf.

♨️ Step 5 – Steaming the Helapa

Once all the Helapa were prepared, I arranged them neatly on the steaming rack inside my rice cooker. When sufficient steam was produced, I placed the Helapa on the rack and steamed them until they were properly cooked.
