Pictures tell a thousand stories-Wk40

Hello Steemians,
Welcome to my blog. I’m excited to drop my contribution to this wonderful contest organized by @fortwis09. Enjoy as you read along.
Though this may not be a suspense-filled story, everything about me revolves around my career as an artist. The pictures I’m sharing today tell the story of my work better than words ever could.
These pictures are very special to me. Beyond creating art, I also sell art materials to fellow artists across Nigeria. Many of them live in villages and other remote areas where there are no art shops nearby. Being able to supply them makes me an entrepreneur too, not just an artist.

As an artist, you can easily go broke trying to gather materials because art supplies are very expensive. I’ve learned a hard truth: it’s better to go broke investing in your future than to spend money on designer clothes just to show off for a moment, only to go broke in the future. One builds you; the other drains you.
Recently, I contacted my supplier to restock. They told me the prices of some materials had doubled. I wasn’t shocked. The recent economic recession in the country has affected absolutely everything, from food to fuel, and now my pencils, papers, eraser and paints. Nothing is spared.

In situations like this, I always buy materials in packs or in bulk. This strategy helps me stay in stock while others are struggling to find basic supplies. It’s one of the most important business lessons I’ve learned as a creative: plan ahead when the economy is unstable, because your art can’t wait for good times.
I took all the pictures for this entry with my Infinix Smart HD Android phone. I love using my phone for photography because it’s always readily available. When inspiration or a business moment strikes, I don’t need to search for a professional camera.

Being an artist in Nigeria demands more than talent. It demands resilience, financial discipline, and an entrepreneurial mindset. Every tube of paint I buy is not just a color, it’s an investment in a future masterpiece and in the artists I serve.
