The Diary Game | SUG Week, Under The Weather & Arsenal Are PREMIER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS! - 19/05/2026

Hello hello my wonderful Steemit family. It's your friend @praizclassic01 back again. School has been busy and honestly, I've been a little under the weather too — but I'm here and I'm writing and that counts for something. Today was a day of mixed emotions, mixed feelings and mixed everything — but it ended on a high that I absolutely was not expecting. Let's get into it!

Before I get into my personal day, let me set the scene for what's been happening on campus this week.

It's SUG Week — and if you're not familiar with that term, let me break it down.

SUG stands for Students' Union Government — the body that represents students at the university level. And every year, the SUG organizes a dedicated week of celebration known as SUG Week — a special period set aside to celebrate student life, unity, talent and campus culture in the fullest sense.

During SUG Week, the campus transforms completely. Events fill the schedule from morning to night — concerts, sports competitions, cultural displays, pageantry shows, comedy nights, road walks and social gatherings. It's the kind of week where lectures feel like background noise because the energy outside is just too alive to ignore.

Beyond the entertainment, SUG Week genuinely brings students together. It's where friendships are built, talents are discovered and memories are made — the kind you still talk about years after graduation. For a lot of students, SUG Week is the highlight of the entire academic year.

This year's edition kicked off on Monday with the official unveiling ceremony — and despite not feeling my best, I attended.

I'll be honest — I wasn't feeling well going into the week. But I went anyway.

The outdoor environment of the unveiling — the dust, the open air, the crowd — did not help. By the end of that Monday, my body had made its verdict very clear. The headache was heavy, the catarrh was full and my nose was completely blocked.

I got medication — Procold and Vitamin C — exactly what the situation called for. The chemist warned me about the Procold before I even asked. "It will knock you out," he said.

He was not wrong.

I took the meds that evening and I was asleep before I even realized it was happening. Deep, long, uninterrupted sleep — the kind that only comes when your body has completely surrendered.

This morning I woke up and the weakness was still very much present. Heavy, sluggish, the kind of tired that sleep doesn't fully fix. It took a long time before I could genuinely get myself up and functional.

But I got up.

Brushed, went downstairs and bought noodles and egg for breakfast — quick, easy and something to put in the system before anything else.

After breakfast and a bath, I made a decision I had already been thinking about.

I was going home.

SUG Week meant the academic schedule was lighter and I needed to use that window wisely — rest properly, eat properly, sleep in a real bed without hostel noise and let the body recover fully. The bags were packed and by evening I was on my way.

On the journey home something small but pleasant happened.

A young lady in the taxi started a conversation and kept it going all the way until I alighted. She was headed to the gym — and as we talked she shared her story. How she had gradually added weight over time, became more chubby than she intended and was now actively working to get back to where she wanted to be. Her gym journey, her discipline, her reasons. It was genuine and honest sharing.

She made the ride lively and the time passed without me even feeling it.

At some point I took a photo of the road — she noticed and asked why I was photographing through the window. I explained Steemit to her — what it is, how it works, the community, the earning potential. Her eyes lit up. She was genuinely interested and said she'd look into it.

Who knows — maybe one day she'll be writing her own diary on Steemit too.
If you're reading this somehow — welcome!

I arrived home some minutes past 7PM and I was not prepared for the welcome I received.

My sister was dancing. Actually dancing. My brother came in for a proper hug. The energy in the house when I walked through that door was loud, warm and genuinely joyful.

I've been gone a month. One month. And I was being welcomed back like I had returned from a long expedition.

But honestly? I loved every second of it. That kind of welcome — the kind that isn't rehearsed or forced, just genuine excitement at seeing someone — that's what home is. It set the tone for everything that followed.

If you've been reading my diaries, you know the hostel bathroom situation. The queues, the timing, the rush, the limited hot water options.

Home is the opposite of all of that.

I changed, went straight to the shower and stayed there as long as I wanted. Hot water or cold — my choice, my pace, my time. No queue, no knocking, no rushing. Just a proper, peaceful, long shower.

There are things you don't fully appreciate until you go without them for a while. A good shower at home is one of them.

When I came out of the bathroom, food was already served and waiting.

Beans and ripe plantain. One of my absolute favourite combinations. The sweetness of the ripe plantain against the richness of the beans — this is comfort food at its finest and nobody makes it quite like home.

I ate slowly and properly. No rushing to get off the hotplate. No waiting for light. Just good food, served with love, at home. This is what I came back for.

And then — the match.

AFC Bournemouth vs Manchester City. And let me tell you why this match mattered far beyond just three points.

Going into tonight, Arsenal sat at the top of the Premier League table with 82 points. City were in second place with 78 points — four points behind with this being their second to last game of the season. For City to keep the title race alive, they absolutely needed to win tonight. Anything less and the trophy would belong to Arsenal.

City started the match as expected — dominant with the ball, 55% possession, controlling the tempo and pressing for the goal. They had 11 total shots and were clearly the better team on paper. But Bournemouth had other ideas.

39th minute — Bournemouth scored. 1-0. Djordje Petrovic between the sticks, the Bournemouth backline organized and the home crowd alive. City went behind.

The pressure mounted. City threw everything at it — Erling Haaland, Bernardo Silva, Jeremy Doku, Rodri, Matheus Kovacic all on the pitch trying to find a way through. Pep Guardiola made 4 substitutions, reshuffling and searching. Bournemouth picked up 4 yellow cards defending and fighting for every inch.

Then — 90th minute — City equalized. 1-1. Right at the death, the tension was unreal.

But a draw was not enough.

Full time: Bournemouth 1-1 Manchester City.

And the moment that result was confirmed —

🏆 ARSENAL FC ARE THE 2025/26 PREMIER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS! 🏆

The numbers tell the full story:

🥈 Manchester City37239578
🥉 Manchester United371911768

Arsenal — 82 points. City — 78 points. A 4 point gap with one game remaining that City cannot close. The title is Arsenal's and nothing can take it away now.

This is Arsenal's first Premier League title in over two decades. The wait is over. The Gunners have done it. 25 wins, 7 draws, just 5 losses — a season of consistency, character and quality from start to finish.

The scenes across the world tonight were something else. Emirates Stadium. Arsenal fans everywhere. Years of near misses, heartbreaks and almost-moments — all of it washed away in one glorious confirmation from a result at the Vitality Stadium.

The Gunners have finally, finally done it.

After the match I played football with my brother on the console and honestly the evening just kept getting better.

I lost some. Won some. The usual back and forth. But one game in particular stands out and will stay with me for a while.

He beat me 7-3 in one game. Thrashed me. And I mean thrashed. I sat there and took it with dignity.

Then the rematch happened.

I won 8-2.

From being beaten 7-3 to turning around and winning 8-2. That is the kind of response that needs no words. The pad was put down and we moved on in mutual understanding.

329343.jpgThe battlefield — from 7-3 loss to 8-2 win. Justice served.

In all the gaming and the excitement, I genuinely forgot I had been feeling unwell all day. That's what home does. It heals you even before the medicine finishes its job.

What a day and what a night.

Started weak, sluggish and under the weather. Made the decision to come home. Had a lively taxi conversation, a warm homecoming, a long shower, incredible home food and then — Arsenal winning the Premier League title to cap it all off.

Some days pack more into them than they have any right to. Today was one of those days.

To Arsenal fans reading this — enjoy every single second of this. You've earned it.

To everyone else — I hope your day was full of good things too. Rest well, stay healthy and goodnight everyone!
