It's The Mother Earth Day: Let us care for Our Planet

Beloved steemians, on this day, I just want to draw our attention tmo the need to protect the mother earth. In the UNs calendar, today is the international day for mother earth. It becomes important that looking at how uncomfortable our environment is becoming, we ought to take actions to save it.

On daily basis, our environment is affected by various forms of degredation. The oceans that were once safe for aquatic lives, are now becoming poisonous. These aquatic lives are fast disappearing as a result of polutions and illegal human activities. To a large extent, the water-life is now acidic and filled with plastic materials and wastes that constitute filth. excessive fishing in the oceans and seas has eliminated or chased fishes away. By these actions, survival of the aquatic lives are now much more threatened than before.

What about wildlife? The wildlife habitat is also at the risk of going into extinction. Animals are hunted for various purposes such as meat, textiles and fabrics. There is medical use of animals that also pose as a reason to hunting animals. These reasons compounded with unauthorized hunting, has contributed to the reduction of the wildlife population.

Bushes and forests are cleared for farming and houses are being built for accomodation. By this action, animals are killed or chased away. The animals would run and diminish into safer zones.

There is another major factor which is also posing a threat to mother earth; it is pollution! The actions humans take on the environment often comes with harmful or destructive substances that are release into the environment. These substances go into the air, the land and water environment. These gasses or substances being released harmfuly affects humans, animals and useful organisms.

The harmful gasses and substances that that depreciates the environment include the Industrial wastes, rubber or plastic pollutions, oil spillage, as well as the chemical that contaminate our rivers, oceans, and soil.

Climate change is another human contributing factor to depreciating the mother earth. Through technological advancement and processes, actions such as the burning of fossil fuels, unaforestation, and industrial emission of gases in the atmosphere is harmful. Scientific findings has proven that it has caused some negative effects such as increase in temperatures, melting ice points, and disruption of ecosystems. Living organisms that does have the adaptive capabilities, would face serious challenge of survival or even disappear from the surface of the earth. Food scarcity is also imminent if measures are not taking to conserve or protect the soil.

The international mother earth day should not just be like an ordinary day. While the international law making and enforcement institutions should come with enabling international laws, nationals and sun nationals should strictly monitored to abide by the rules of protecting the environment.

It is really consequential if actions are not taken swiftly to protect not just the human environment but, the entire ecosystems. Having laws in place could curb illegal activities that threaten the existence of humans and animals.
